Maintaining healthy eating at home

With many of us being home, some of our healthier habits may have disappeared. There is also a new urge to bake bread and other baked goods. Keep reading for my suggestions to bake your bread and eat it too…

  1. Plan your meals. Take the time to write out your meals for the week (or at least a few days). I get most of my meal inspiration from social media. I use this meal prep pad to help me stay organized. This will also help with grocery shopping and using things in your pantry. If available, meal prep services are also an option.
  2. Make sure you are drinking enough water. Sometimes thirst is confused with hunger. Staying hydrated has many benefits, including helping you feel full. There are plenty of apps to help you keep track of your water intake (I use Plant Nanny).
  3. Keep healthier foods in the house to help you stick to your goals. You cannot reach for foods that are not there! However, if you cannot resist…
  4. Be aware of your portion size. Eating out of the bag/container = probably ate more than you meant to. This can also give you the flexibility to eat your favorite snacks without going overboard.
  5. Do not beat yourself up if you “mess up.” Make it up with the next meal or the next day.

What tip was the most helpful? What tips have helped you maintain a healthy diet during this crazy time?
