I politely responded no and went to start my workout. A few weeks later, another trainer asked me the same question and I responded with the same answer I gave to the other trainer. However, conversation was different. After I responded, he gave me an…

How I became a group fitness instructor- and why I took a hiatus
Group fitness was something that I never though I would be interested in. Aside from my high school experience on sports teams, I had little experience with group fitness. I guess it was because I worked out by myself most of the time and did not find attending a class with other people who may not be the same fitness level as me unappealing. However, one announcement convinced me otherwise. How I got introduced to the world of group fitness In 2014, Cassey Ho (founder of Blogilates) announced that POP Pilates became a certified group fitness format that could be taught in gyms. At the time, I followed her monthly…

My fitness journey
My introduction to fitness began in kindergarten, when I started playing soccer in my town’s league. I remained active throughout my elementary years by participating in athletic programs in and outside of school. My athletic career continued to middle and high school where I was a member of the soccer and track teams. After graduating high school, I struggled with finding a place for fitness in my collegiate course load as a music education major consisting of classes, lessons, and performances. Although I gained weight during my freshman year, it went back down close to my high school weight by the middle of sophomore year after getting my diet under…
