Please see my disclaimer, privacy policy, and terms of use for additional information. Are you stretching regularly? If not, you should be. For a while, I was consistently stretching after my workouts and longer yoga sessions on my rest days. However, moving into my new home and living in the house during renovations made my usual routine difficult and ended up skipping my bi-weekly yoga sessions for weeks. Well, my lack of stretching finally caught up with me at my most recent sports massage therapy appointment. Before this…

Are you getting enough exercise? 5 benefits of getting the recommended amount
Despite the known benefits of regular exercise, the Center for Disease Control (CDC) reports only 53.3% of American adults meet the Physical Activity Guidelines for aerobic physical activity. Additionally, less than 25 percent of adults meet the guidelines for both aerobic and muscle-strengthening activities. These statistics are concerning due to the increasing prevalence of chronic diseases and comorbid conditions throughout the world. The cause of this inactivity can be attributed to several causes, including more occupations that require sitting for…

How an Apple Watch can secretly help you reach your wellness goals
This is NOT a sponsored post! I wish though… Three months ago, I purchased my first Apple Watch. Originally, my options were between an Apple Watch and a Fitbit. After a lengthy decision process, I decided to get the Watch since it would benefit me at work and at the gym due to the fact I could also receive messages and other notifications while teaching. If I solely wanted a fitness tracker, I probably would have purchased a Fitbit. Ultimately, I chose the Apple Watch SE since it had more features than the Series 3 but was not as expensive as the Series 6. I thought the “Always On” display…

When I was using them, I felt motivated and organized. Every morning during hall duty, I would write in my meals and workouts for the day. I always looked forward to checking off another glass of water and my workout being completed. During competition prep, I also used a journal to track my workouts, weight…

Feeling tightness in your neck, chest and shoulders after working on the computer? You may need to incorporate more back exercises into your routine. 5 home workout tips
Before I became a "gym rat," I was a huge fan of home workouts. At the time, I did not have enough money for a gym membership and did not want to travel to another place after driving home in traffic for over an hour. I was able to workout in the little space I had and did not need to purchase much equipment. Amazingly, I was able to achieve great results and was in better shape than I was in high school.

Working out in the gym after lockdown
Governor Cuomo FINALLY opened the gyms in New York State after six months! I was super excited to head back to the gym since New York was the first state to go close the gyms and the one of the last states to reopen. Although home workouts were working, the burn is not nearly as intense as a classic gym session. It was also good to reconnect with the frequent gym goers. However, the gym experience is vastly different now that it was in March. Continue reading for some tips in order to have a safe experience during your workout.
